Hi, I’m Michael—the photographer behind FI Photography.
I’ve photographed people across Melbourne since 2010, but becoming a husband and father changed how I see family stories.
Children grow while we are busy caring for them. A habit disappears. A new expression appears. The little child who needed to be carried begins running ahead. These changes rarely announce themselves, which is why I am drawn to photographs that preserve the honest details of family life.
My sessions are relaxed because I do not believe families need to perform to be photographed well. Children are allowed to move, explore and take time to settle. Parents receive calm guidance without being held in stiff poses.
I want your photographs to reflect the people you recognise not a polished version of your family created for the camera.
I am quietly watching for the moments that happen in between: a child leaning into a parent, a shared look, the laughter after something goes wrong and the way a small hand wraps around a finger.
